"Green New Petroleum" Sets Sail! China's First Export of Green Ammonia Successfully Completed

Recently, China Envision's first shipment of green ammonia officially set sail, departing from its Chifeng plant, passing through Lianyungang port, and ultimately being delivered to Lotte Fine Chemical, a global specialty chemicals giant in South Korea.

This successful delivery validates the end-to-end supply chain from "green electricity to hydrogen synthesis for ammonia" to "storage, transportation, and customs clearance" to "international shipping," marking Envision's establishment of a complete value chain from green ammonia production to application, and ushering in a new era for "green new petroleum" to participate in global zero-carbon trade.

Lou Yimin, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer of Envision Energy, pointed out, “This ship carries not only green ammonia, but also our commitment to a ‘sustainable future for humanity.’ The successful maiden voyage proves that Envision has the capability for end-to-end delivery, from the production of green hydrogen and ammonia to downstream applications. This not only provides a high-value-added export path for China’s vast renewable energy potential, but also offers a practical decarbonization solution for overseas markets.”

According to previously released information, on July 8, 2025, the first phase of Envision’s 1.52 million-ton green hydrogen and ammonia project in Chifeng, with a capacity of 320,000 tons, officially commenced production. The Envision Chifeng Zero-Carbon Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park is the world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia project and the world’s first commercially operational green hydrogen and ammonia project. The core of this project lies in building a complete “green electricity-green hydrogen-green ammonia” zero-carbon industrial chain, completely eliminating the deep dependence of traditional synthetic ammonia production on fossil fuels.

It is reported that the Envision Chifeng project has achieved 100% direct green electricity connection and possesses excellent full life-cycle carbon management capabilities. It has obtained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus and ISCC EU certifications, becoming the world's first project to receive the Green Ammonia Plus certificate with greenhouse gas (GHG) indicators.

Envision's green ammonia products have also passed the Bureau Veritas (BMV) renewable ammonia certification, making it the world's first green ammonia product to receive this certification. During the 2026 Davos Forum, the project was selected for the World Economic Forum (WEF) white paper, "From Blueprint to Reality: Stronger Business Justifications for Building Energy Infrastructure," becoming a benchmark case for global zero-carbon industrial transformation.
